The Park Loop Road of Acadia is a one way road that winds along the seashore and through the inner part of Mt Desert Island. You can hop out of your car on every spot you feel like and enjoy the fantastic scenery. The Otter cliff with its red granite coast line was my favourite. There are no fences and so you are allowed to climb over the boulders wherever you want to, getting real close to the steep cliff abysses where the sizzling surf is licking over the rocks and sea gulls and cormorans are circling above your head or resting on unreachable places looking at you suspiciously when you get too close for their taste.
